A digital recreation of one of the four lions from the Morosini Fountain, a 17th-century Venetian landmark in the heart of Heraklion, Crete. The goal was to faithfully reproduce the sculptural style of the original while pushing the detail level achievable in a digital medium.
Reference
Photographs of the actual fountain served as the primary reference, capturing the proportions, the stylized mane curls, and the weathered stone surface that centuries of exposure have produced.

Sculpt
The sculpt focuses on the ornamental quality of the original: the rhythmic, almost decorative curls of the mane, the stylized facial features, and the powerful seated posture. A warm sandstone material was applied to echo the look of the real limestone.
Close-up views reveal the expression and character of the face, with its distinctive closed eyes, open mouth, and flowing beard. The profile shot highlights the layered depth of the mane.

Detail passes on the mane curls, the individually sculpted paw pads and claws, and the overall silhouette from above.
